Actress Edie McClurg’s family has claimed to be victims of elder abuse.
In court documents seen by The Post, the family of the “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” star – who lives in Los Angeles and suffers from dementia – allege that she was abused by a man who claimed to be an “old” friend. who reportedly tried to get her out of California to marry her.
The documents — filed in California’s Superior Court — name alleged abuser Michael L. Ramos, who has reportedly lived at the 76-year-old’s home in LA since 2017.
According to the documents, Ramos is unemployed and pays no rent or expenses, and was able to work his way into McClurg’s life, reportedly trying to move her out of California to marry her despite her diagnosis of cancer. dementia.
The documents also allege that Ramos “sexually abused McClurg’s current caretaker,” with a police report filed with the LAPD. In addition, the caretaker was “concerned” that Ramos “has or may have attacked the Conservatee and she may not even know it’s happening to her,” the court records said.
McClurg and Ramos “Never Been Involved” [in] a romantic relationship,” with the carer now concerned that he had sexually assaulted the actress.
They reported that he wanted to marry her out of state, despite knowing she was “lacked of capacity” and living in her home for “companionship,” which the conservatoire judge had allowed.
McClurg is under guardianship and received protection from a judge – according to the documents – who ordered Ramos “not to enter into a valid marriage” with McClurg.
The conservatoire’s lawyer – which has been in effect since 2019 – is now reportedly asking for an injunction to remove Ramos from the legal settlement altogether.
McClurg’s family reportedly went to court in 2019 to ask for the legal settlement, alleging that she was living with a male partner who was verbally abusive and tried to influence the handling of her estate by allegedly making her sign documents .
A 2019 neuropsychological assessment report obtained by The Post said McClurg “suffers from a progressive, irreversible neurodegenerative disorder”. The report outlined previous cases where McClurg was allegedly abused, including by a married contractor who worked on her home and later allegedly “continued to live in her house” and claimed to be “her boyfriend.” The contractor’s wife allegedly “started calling the patient and even stalking the patient” before McClurg’s cousin, Angelique Cabral, intervened.
The review also noted that McClurg was allegedly “friends” with Ramos in 2012 or 2013.
Cabral was appointed as her guardian and filed the emergency request to remove Ramos from McClurg’s home on July 14.
In his statement, Ramos objected to the emergency movement and denied assault or sexual abuse of McClurg or her carer.
